Thurmond, West Virginia
Formerly a coal town in the 1800s, Thurmond was once a main stop on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. Its train depot has been restored and now functions as a museum. What’s interesting is that in 2005, 7 people still lived here, and 6 of these residents ran for the right to hold public office. Go figure.
