Founded in 1209, the university is split into 31 colleges, all of which are scattered throughout the picturesque city of Cambridge. The university also boasts over 100 libraries, which display and protect the university’s substantial literary holdings. Many college buildings overlook the River Cam, which is often busy with students boating in traditional punts. Spanning the Cam is the Bridge of Sighs, a covered bridge that was once a favorite of Queen Victoria. The most noteworthy building on campus is the King’s College Chapel, which was built in 1441 and includes incredible 16^th century stained glass.
