Top 11 U.S. Destinations to Hit the Slopes This Holiday

4. Vail
Many intermediate and advanced skiers head to Vail in search of new challenges. The sprawling resort has tons of different slopes, and even offers adventure skiing. If you’re looking to organize a longer ski vacation, Vail’s close proximity to the ski areas of Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, and Keystone give you lots of options for excursions. Plus, all of the above resorts are owned by the same company, so your lift pass is valid at all four. Lift tickets start around $726 for a six-day pass.
Downtown Vail is decorated like a Tyrolean village, so there’s plenty of hearty food and beer all around. The most expensive accommodations are in Vail Village, but if you venture a bit further down I-70 hotels get cheaper.
