| December 1, 2017
7. Sumatra, Indonesia
Sumatra is one of the largest islands in Indonesia, but it remains relatively untouched compared to the overwhelming popularity of areas like Bali, Lombok, and Yogyakarta. Sumatra is a nature lover’s paradise. There are species there that aren’t found anywhere else in the world, and many of them are critically endangered.
You can visit an orangutan sanctuary in Bukit Lawang or dive around the Mentawai Islands. When you’re not out exploring the beautiful rainforest, or lounging on the beach, you can fill your belly with delicious Padang cuisine.
