Moose Dropping Festival, USA

Yes, you have read the subhead correctly, there is (or was) such thing as an event that is all about moose droppings. The festival – which ran for 37 years – took place in Talkeetna, Alaska. Each year on the second weekend in July, piles of moose droppings were collected in order to be turned into – this is fact – “jewelry and other decorative pieces.”

The remaining droppings are painted and used as a game during the festival, where eager – YES, eager – participants throw said droppings at an attended target, which is tastefully designed as a moose.  Now, it’s not all just poop, the festival also had an event where it would put moms to the test. They have to complete a number of tasks within a short period of time such as: splitting wood, baking a pie, and multi-tasking by carrying a doll and groceries across a river.
