This incident in Colorado left 100 passengers thanking their lucky stars to be alive after a plane crashed and burned on the runway at Denver International Airport. The Continental Airlines Boeing 737 failed to take off properly and instead plunged into a ravine where it lost its landing gear along with an engine. Passengers fled as the plane caught fire and plastic from the overhead compartments melted and dripped down onto the seats. Fortunately the crash happened only 200 yards from one of the airport’s fire stations and the blaze was quickly extinguished. Apart from a few fractures and broken bones, no serious injuries were reported.
