How to Reinvent Yourself When You Travel

I remember when I left Brazil about eight years ago that all my friends thought I was the shy one and my brother the outgoing one. (I have a twin brother, by the way!) After living in London for a while, everybody thought exactly the opposite and I couldn’t really understand why.

What had I done that had changed me? Everything! When I first worked in hospitality and had to describe a menu for a table of 15 people with my intermediate English, I was super scared, but after a while, it was a piece of cake.

Could that have helped me? Probably, especially because public speaking became a lot easier, as did meeting other people and talking about any subject.

What you have to remember is that you don’t have to travel abroad to try new things; even visiting a town close by for a couple of days on your own might reveal hidden aspects of your personality.
