Muay Thai – Thailand
Also known as Thai kickboxing, Muay Thai can be traced back to the 18th century, when Siam (ancient Thailand) was fighting Burma (currently Myanmar). The actual meaning of the name Muay Thai is “the art of eight limbs” as it consists of punching, kicking, as well as elbow and knee attacks.
Nowadays, it’s an international sport with competitions running all year long. It’s also used as a way of recreation, physical exercise, self-defense, and personal advancement. Practitioners train heavily and need to kick sandbags to harden their shin bones!
