Bethnal Green Station
Another haunted relic from a war long past is London’s Bethnal Green Station. Locals claim that the site is haunted following a tragedy that saw more than 173 people crushed to death in 1943, during the heat of the Second World War.
An air-raid horn sent countless shelter seekers to flood the tunnel fast. Unfortunately, the stairs to get into the tunnel were poorly lit, causing a couple of people to fall. Because of the lack of light and the momentum of bodies, others fell on top of them, causing many to die of asphyxiation or fall related injuries. Roughly 60 of those that were killed were children.
To this day, Bethnal Green Station is a place of great reverence.
