The Edinburgh Vaults are a vast, interconnected system of underground rooms and tunnels located near the South Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland. These vaults were completed in 1788, and were initially used as storefronts and taverns until rising water from the river forced most people out of the area. After that, the waterlogged tunnels were used by prostitutes, gamblers, smugglers, and even serial killers. Today, you can take a tour of the tunnels, where you’ll hear all about the ghosts that are rumored to haunt the area.
