The Best American Restaurant Rivalries of All Time

Roast Beef Po’Boy: Parasol’s vs. Tracey’s

In New Orleans, food reigns supreme. Dishes like jambalaya, beignets, and oyster muffalettas show how different cultures have tweaked each other’s traditions to produce incredibly tasty results.

One rivalry that has sprung up recently is between two pubs who claim to have the best roast beef po’boy in the city. Parasol’s has been around for much longer, but in 2010, the bar was sold to a new owner, who outbid the bar’s long-time operator, which had hoped to own the bar himself. The operator then opened his own pub called Tracey’s just down the street from Parasol’s and brought the secret recipe for roast beef po’boys with him when he fled. Now, there’s stiff competition between the pubs for po’boy dominance.
