Carbonade Flamande – Belgium
Get ready for beef and beer, we are headed to Belgium!
This soup, also known as vlaamse stoverij to the French Flemish, combines beef stewing meat, caramelized onions, and dark ale among other ingredients, like brown sugar and chopped bacon. Carbonade flamande will have your mouth doing backflips for more. This stew is usually served boiled potatoes, french fries, or a dish called stoemp (similar to loaded mashed potatoes).
Fun Fact: Considered an official dish of the country, carbonade flamande is widely available in Belgium restaurants.
