Spezi is a concoction that took Germany by storm in the 1970s. It’s simply cola mixed with orange juice or orange lemonade. It might sound odd, but for many people, this is their drink of choice, either at home (you can find it in cans or bottles under a few different brand names) or in the beer gardens, where it’s mixed up by hand.
In Munich, the brewery Paulaner produces their own spezi, which has a cult following of devoted locals.
