7. Franz Josef – New Zealand
Franz Josef is a small town on the west coast of the South Island in New Zealand. Despite only having a population of roughly over 300 people, it can accommodate around 2,000 visitors during the high season.
The main attraction is the Franz Josef Glacier, which is a World Heritage Site and only three miles away from the town. You can see it via a guided walk or check it out from up high, on a helicopter tour. The town also offers hot pools, which are perfect after a long day hiking.
