Light the Way: The Most Beautiful Lighthouses

White Shoal Light – Michigan
In the summer months, Michigan’s White Shoal Light appears to float on its very own island and in the winter months it’s surrounded by frozen water. But what you can’t see are the various navigational hazards lurking beneath the water’s surface.
This lighthouse was built in 1851 to mark the entrance to Lake Michigan. The only way to see this candy-cane striped lighthouse up close is with a private boat tour.
