Cawdor Castle
You might recognize Cawdor Castle as the home of Macbeth, who was fictionalized in Shakespeare’s play of the same name. Macbeth’s rise from Thane of Cawdor to King of Scotland involved both witchcraft and murder, so it’s no surprise that the castle where the story was set has seen its fair share of supernatural happenings. Many people believe that a young woman haunts the castle — the daughter of the Earl of Cawdor, who was trying to escape to be with her lover one night when her father caught her sneaking out her window and cut off her hands.
