5. The Vatican Museums – Vatican City
The Vatican Museums in Vatican City are home to some of the most incredible artifacts and art in the world. For centuries, the Pope has not only been the center of religious life, but also the chief patron of artists and innovators all around the globe.
This is reflected in the museums, which contain some of the most important pieces of Western art on Earth, including the Sistine Chapel ceiling, Raphael’s Adoration of the Magi, and Titian’s Frari Madonna. The museums have been in operation since the 16th century, and in the last few years, has received an average of six million visitors a year.
