Night at the Museum: The Most Visited Museums
| August 14, 2017
7. The Metropolitan Museum of Art – New York City, USA
The Metropolitan Museum of Art sits in a plum spot on New York’s 5th Avenue, overlooking Central Park. Although this central museum contains over two million works, artifacts had to be moved to several new locations as the museum became overcrowded.
The Cloisters at Fort Tryon Park and the Met Breuer on Madison Avenue are both offshoots of this larger museum. The central museum, which was founded in 1870, regularly sees five million visitors a year, who come to see the massive collections of Islamic art, Medieval weapons and armory, and musical instruments.
