10 Reasons Trump’s Energy Plan Poses Major Climate Threats
Extreme weather would increase
Scientists are adamant that an increase in global greenhouse gas emissions will also lead to more extreme weather patterns both abroad and at home. Between the years of 1981-2010, Americans experienced an average of 16 days out of the year with temperatures above 95°F. Should we continue on the high-emissions path that Trump is pushing for, that number would increase to 27-50 days out of the year by 2050 and to 46-96 days by 2090.
Aside from extreme temperatures, rising sea levels would also mean higher intensity hurricanes along American coasts. It’s estimated that just six feet of sea level rise could potentially cost states like Florida an additional $20 billion in damage annually and the country an additional $50 billion each year.
