10. Thunderstorms

I mean, if you’re just hit by a mild rain, you can still enjoy the majority of your day. Maybe you won’t go to the beach, but you might visit a museum or even go to the cinema — any covered place really.

However if the skies wake up in a black mood — shouting thunders and crying rivers — then there is no escape! I have recently gone through four days of rain in Koh Phangan, one of Thailand’s islands, where in theory it’s always sunny and beautiful! My days consisted of eating, watching shows on my laptop, and being bored!

Unless your trip is a sequence of misfortunes, you just have to remember that in most cases, the good times compensate for the bad ones. Once you realize no trip will ever be perfect, you’ll find yourself a lot more accepting of the mishaps that come your way.
