7. Long and Dangerous Bus Journeys

Oh I hate those so much — extra points if, apart from taking ages, you don’t have a toilet! I got a handful of those in South America and it was horrible. You can never drink a beer or too much water, otherwise you’ll be suffering until the next stop.

I was lucky enough to have sensible drivers who would slow down if they ever came close to super high cliffs, but they were unfortunately the minority. The number of bus crashes in the Andes is staggering and you should always read up about a bus company before buying the ticket.
