5. Everybody Loves Americans
You may (or may not) be surprised to learn that slapping a big old American flag on your backpack is not going to get you the most friends or the best service when traveling abroad, especially in Europe. Unfortunately, word has gotten out worldwide that Americans think of themselves as something pretty special, and non-Americans don’t often feel the same way. A great way to make friends wherever you go is to collect flags from all the places you visit in addition to where you are from, so you can fit in anywhere you go.
