Tartufo
Another delicious Italian dessert is tartufo — a small confection made with various types of ice cream layered on top of each other to make a treat that resembles a chocolate truffle. This treat was invented in Pizzo, a small town in the southern Italian region of Calabria, back in the 1950s. Typically, tartufo are made with at least two flavors of ice cream or gelato which are shaped into a ball around a center made of fruit, then dipped in chocolate, sprinkled with nuts and dusted with either cinnamon or cocoa powder.
