10. Dangerous Highways Abound
Coquihalla highway in British Columbia, aka “Highway thru Hell,” is one of the worst roads in all of North America. In winter months, there are close to 500 accidents and plenty of fatalities each year. Discovery Channel even made a show about trucking in the Coq called Highway Thru Hell. Watch the first 5 minutes of the first episode and gain respect for tow trucks and truckers. If that’s not bad enough, it’s also avalanche prone, and there is a section appropriately called “The Smasher.”
