Some of the most sought after vacation destinations in Canada are in the middle of remote wilderness. Algonquin Park, the Arctic tundra, isolated First Nations communities or any number of back country camping spots. The problem is, many of them are so remote that you need to purchase permits, and a search and rescue will come and retrieve you if you do not surface by the end of your permit. In these areas, there are no provisions — no toilets, telephones, electricity or even cell phone reception.

All in all, Canada is a beautiful place to visit, but there are dangers, so be sure to come prepared!
