Somewhere between South America and Africa lies Ascension Island; 700 miles from anywhere stuck right in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. The island is so inaccessible that both Britain and the U.S. have used it for espionage missions and it’s been reported that the National Security Agency set up a base there to gather information on Brazilian oil interests.
