16 Most Isolated Places on Earth (That You Can Actually Visit)
| June 3, 2015
Alert, Nunavut, Canada
Visitors to Alert, Nunavut, the most northerly permanently inhabited area in the world, will note two major things. One: it is cold almost year round, and two: half the year it is very, very dark. Inhabitants of Alert are mostly temporary, and there is a Canadian Forces Station, and Environment Canada weather station, an atmosphere monitoring station and an airport, and little else. There may not be much to do, but a visit to Alert would certainly make for a good story.
