The Basque city of San Sebastián has long been known worldwide for their amazing culinary tradition. It’s the most Michelin-starred region on the planet, but the opening of Amelia in 2017 still managed to make waves in this intense culinary community.
Amelia is the brainchild of Paulo Airaudo, who left a Michelin-starred restaurant in Geneva to open his own place, which is named after his daughter. Amelia serves a sustainable, modern tasting menu paired with a selection of natural wines. Airaudo’s quirky personality can be seen both in his food and in the décor of the restaurant itself. Star Wars memorabilia covers the walls, and at the end of your meal, you get a little chocolate in the shape of a Stormtrooper.
