Jag Niwas – Udaipur, India
Although technically this building isn’t a private residence anymore, it was originally built as a private residence called Jag Niwas by Maharana Jagat Singh I in 1628. His descendants recently converted the building into a luxury hotel, which they’ve called the Lake Palace Hotel.
The hotel is located on a tiny island in the middle of Lake Pichola, which makes it appear to be floating on water. The central showpiece of the hotel is the floating gardens located in the central courtyard.
