The Capilano Bridge was built in 1889 as a means to cross Vancouver’s Capilano River. Its simple suspension design provides pedestrians (and tourists) with 140 meters of scenic passage. The bridge was originally built with hemp rope and cedar planks, but thankfully those were replaced with wire cable in 1903. The bridge is currently part of a private tourist facility, so if you’re hoping to walk its path you’ll need to pony up.
