5. Air Koryo
Air Koryo is another airline that’s consistently rated among the least-popular worldwide, and with good reason. They are the national airline of North Korea, although they do have offices all over Asia and the Middle East, plus one in Germany.
Air Koryo started as a joint venture between the Soviet Union and North Korea, before being rebranded as Air Koryo in 1992. Their fleet is mostly older planes, although they are trying to modernize, which is a difficult prospect because ongoing sanctions mean that they can only purchase planes from Russia. Due to ongoing safety issues, they have been banned from flying into the European Union since 2006.
