While United Airlines was previously quite well-regarded, they recently hit a major snag when footage of an on-board encounter between a passenger and airline staff went viral.
While their amenities are all standard, it’s really their customer service which falls flat. Every incident — whether it’s breaking a musician’s guitar and refusing to pay for it, or denying boarding to two young girls because they’re wearing leggings — seems more ridiculous than the next. In an attempt to improve their image, the United board decided recently that executive compensation would be tied to customer satisfaction, leading to a 70 percent increase in passenger complaints.
