Blue lava
Just when we thought that volcanoes couldn’t get any cooler, we find out there’s one that emits glowing blue lava. Karay Ijen Volcano in Indonesia can sometimes appear to be spewing blue lava at night due to the high levels of sulfur inside it. As the sulfur burns off it lets off a blue light that gives the magma its colorful appearance. Locals even mine around the volcano for sulfur and make off with an estimated 80 to 100 kilos each night.
