The Moeraki Boulders
If you thought perfectly round rocks didn’t exist in nature, think again. These charming stones known as the Moeraki Boulders can be found dotting the shoreline of Koekohe Beach on New Zealand’s Otago coast. Formed around 60 million years ago, the spherical boulders were embedded in the shoreline and uncovered and smoothed after eons of coastal erosion. Some of the boulders weigh several tons and measure up to almost 10 feet in diameter.
