Appomattox Court House and National Historical Park

Appomattox Court House and National Historical Park encompasses the place where Robert E. Lee surrendered to the Union commander Ulysses S. Grant, back in 1865. You can visit the McLean House to see the site of the surrender, but there are lots of other places to visit in the area. Markers around the village and field will point out spots of interest, and it makes for an interesting walk through the park. You can also visit Museum of the Confederacy-Appomattox, which houses information on the end of the war and postwar life.
