15. Orvieto Cathedral, Orvieto
The Orvieto Cathedral was built in the 13th century to house a Catholic relic — an alter cloth covered with blood that oozed out of a sacramental Host. Now, the cathedral attracts visitors because of its own merits. The golden frontage and the rose window are two features that have continually fascinated architects.
