Iceland: The Land of the Midnight Sun

12. Silfra
If you’ve ever wanted to dive and doing it somewhere vaguely dangerous intrigues you, definitely check out Silfra, a popular diving location in Iceland that actually straddles two active tectonic plates. Silfra is fed by water that filters through porous rock, so visibility is always remarkably clear in this calm freshwater pool. This makes it easy to dive, but it also makes snorkeling a possibility because the views are so clear even from close to the surface. If you decide to go diving or snorkeling in Silfra, make sure to book your visit with a licensed local diving organization — they don’t allow unlicensed divers.
