Glühwein is the German version of mulled wine. The original recipe from 14th century included a selection of spices (cinnamon, ginger, cloves, pepper, nutmeg, marjoram, etc) mixed with red wine and sugar. Nowadays you can find non-alcoholic versions as well.

It originated in Italy, but now it’s a famous drink found around the Christmas period all over the world. Each country has their own recipe and the final result sometimes includes cider, and brandy, but also fruit wines made with blueberry or cherry.
