7. Suutei Tsai – Mongolia
Suutei tsai literally means “tea with milk.” It’s a blend of water, milk, a pinch of salt, and tea, which can be green or black. Although Mongolians generally drink cow’s milk, it can sometimes be sourced from camels, horses, yaks, and goats.
It’s not uncommon for foreigners to dislike the tea at first because of its salty taste, but they soon get used to it. Suutei tsai is usually drunken at meal times and offered to guests as they arrive at the yurts.
