30 Cities With the Highest Crime Rates in the World
| August 17, 2016
Minneapolis, MN
One of the Twin Cities, Minneapolis lies at the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Minnesota River, and is home to many lakes as well. This makes it an excellent spot for outdoor sports and scenic walks. Minneapolis is also known for having a strong culture of volunteerism — over 40% of their adults put some time towards volunteering every year.
Even though their crime rate current sits at twice the national average, it has been steadily dropping. Recently, Minneapolis appointed its very first openly gay police chief: Janee Harteau, who took office in 2012.
