Tarte Tatin
Many people speculate that the first tarte tatin was created because of a delicious accident, when a chef accidentally baked an apple tart upside-down. A tarte tatin is usually made with apples, but can also be made with different types of fruit like bananas, or pineapple. Since the fruit sits on the bottom of the pan while it cooks, the sugar caramelizes and creates a juicy and sweet mess on top of a delicious tart. In France, this dessert is made even more decadent when served with crème fraîche.
