Plougastel Strawberries
Plougastel strawberries are a delicacy that not many people outside of Europe know about. In North America, we’re used to strawberries that are gigantic, flavorless, and white on the inside. Not so with the strawberries from Plougastel, France. Called gariguettes du plougastel, they are more elongated than typical strawberries, and their flavour is sweet with a depth not seen in many other types of fruit. They are perfect to enjoy on their own, or with a dollop of barely-sweetened whipped cream for a light yet decadent dessert.
