12. Brazil

In Brazil, workers can generally take up to 30 days of paid vacation per year, which does not include the eight paid public holidays, and four regional paid public holidays that they’re also entitled to take off. Most of these holidays are religious in nature or celebrate Brazil’s independence.

The standard Brazilian work week is 44 hours — eight hours every Monday to Friday, and four hours on Saturdays. Even though the standard work week is fairly long in Brazil, employees are still encouraged to take long lunch breaks — often up to two hours — so they can eat with their families.
