Portuguese workers are entitled to 22 working days of paid vacation every year, in addition to a further 13 paid public holidays. Although Portuguese employees are entitled to take quite a long lunch break (generally about an hour and a half), they don’t have the same tradition of siesta that the Spanish are known for.

Generally, Portuguese people are quite invested in their jobs, and even part-time jobs have good benefits. For instance, employees on short, fixed-term contracts are still entitled to two days off per month regardless of how long their employment period is.
