9. Dim Sum

Another type of food that originally comes to us from Cantonese cuisine is dim sum, a meal that’s become popular all over the world. When you order dim sum, little baskets or plates of dumplings, buns, noodles, and rolls are served. Unlimited tea is shared by the table, and diners are encouraged to share a number of small plates with each other. In China, going out for tea and dim sum is referred to as yum cha (“drink tea”) and was first served to traders traveling along the Silk Road.
