The last major site of Arthurian legend that still exists today is Tintagel Castle, where Arthur is rumored to have been conceived. The castle itself is a remarkable structure, situated right on the coast overlooking the Cornish sea. There’s even a cave nearby where the wizard Merlin, who educated and instructed Arthur, is rumored to have dwelled.

You can visit both the cave and the castle today. Make sure you leave enough time to see both. Regardless of whether you believe that Arthur really spent time here, the ancient ruins are spectacular and definitely merit a visit.
