St. Nectan’s Glen

St. Nectan’s Glen is one of the many places associated with Arthurian legend in England. Local legend has it that this tiny waterfall and pool was where Arthur’s knights purified themselves before embarking on their quest for the Holy Grail.

Even before it figured into Arthurian legend, this site was considered spiritually significant, and housed several different hermits who retreated to a cave above the waterfall, which itself houses the remains of an ancient Celtic chapel.
