The World in Noodle Dishes

Pad Thai

One of the most famous dishes to have ever come out of Thailand must be pad thai. This is another fried noodle dish which is made with rice vermicelli noodles rather than egg noodles.

The noodles are cooked in a wok with a huge number of other ingredients in order to get the perfect blend of sweet and sour with a kick of heat. The ingredients cooked with the noodles include tofu, fish sauce, palm sugar, tiny dried shrimps, shallots, garlic, and tamarind pulp. The dish is then fried with chicken or shrimp, and an egg is scrambled over the top.

If you think that the dish is done at this point, think again. The best is yet to come through the tantalizing addition of toppings like peanuts, cilantro, crunchy bean sprouts, lime juice, and chopped chilies.
