How to Travel With Your Pet

9. Traveling by Car, Train, or Sea
Much like airlines, ferries, cruise ships, and railroads have their own rules that need to be respected. Most of the time, you’ll need to pay an extra fee to take your pet, and you’ll need to use company-compliant carriers.
If you’re traveling by car, remember your pet’s needs. You’ll probably need a pet car seat (or pet harness) for safety, and be aware of the inside temperature so it’s not too hot for them. Make sure you stop every so often, so your pet can also “stretch their legs.” Never leave your furry friend unattended inside the car, especially on a hot day.
