How to Travel With Your Pet

6. Choose the Right Pet Carrier and Cargo Crate
The best course of action is to buy an IATA-compliant pet crate, which will be accepted everywhere. Although it’s best to have just one animal per crate, two pets may travel in the same container as long as they’re under 30 pounds, of the same species and compatible.
Pet carrier policies vary, depending on the airline, but usually they shouldn’t weigh more than 12 pounds and not be longer than 18 inches. You should be able to fit the carrier under the seat, and at least two sides of it should have mesh ventilation.
